Rooster Day

In 1919, Demopolis hosted the great Rooster Auction to raise funds to build a bridge over the Tombigbee River connecting Marengo and Sumter counties, the last link in the Dixie Overland Highway. Pepper Jelly Festival

Held every year on the last Saturday in April on the grounds of the Alabama Rural Heritage Center, the Pepper Jelly Festival celebrates rural Alabama's crafts, history and the Black Belt Heritage.
