Pioneer Day

November 8, 2014

The grounds are transformed into a living history exhibit for visitors interested in the pioneer way of life. How to make syrup from sorghum cane… how a pioneer wife washed her family’s clothes… how cotton was cleaned, combed, spun, and eventually woven into fabric… candle making… lye soap making… corn husk doll making… and many other techniques are revisited and demonstrated for the public. Children can even play games from the late 1800’s. Admission is free.
