Kimbell Lake

This is a great site for viewing Yellow-billed Cuckoos, Downy Woodpeckers, and Great Crested Flycatchers. In spring and early summer, Red-bellied and Pileated woodpeckers can be seen and heard around the area. Northern Parulas, Prothonotary Warblers, and Common Yellowthroats announce their presence with their distinctive and easily recognizable songs. Great Egrets and Great Blue and Little Blue herons can be sighted near the swamps. During winter, spring, and early summer, it is possible to canoe/kayak from Kimbell Lake to Parker Lake and other smaller lakes in the area.
