Evergreen City Park

Evergreen Municipal Park is a 65-acre emerald in the crown of the community!

This park is located within the city limits of Evergreen, Alabama about 2 miles from downtown and brimming with year-round activities, from family reunions to baseball games and community festivals. 

While important events are celebrated here, like Christmas and the Fourth of July, on nearly any day of the year you can find rollerbladers (both young and old) spinning across the pavement and anglers from One to Ninety-Nine wetting their hooks and casting their lines for bass and bream off the banks of the park's three-acre lake. 

There is even a horse arena for local horse lovers and where horse shows are held monthly during the spring to the fall.  This attracts people from allover the region. 

This park "just brings people together", says Aubrey Padgett, a retired mechanic who spearheaded development of the park almost 30 years ago.  At that time there wasn't even a place for the kids to play ball. 

Padgett worked with the state and federal grants to construct the park.  The residents donated their labor materials and cash contributions to help make the park what it is today.  Padgett's idea served as a touchstone for the character of the entire town.  The citizens of Evergreen role up their sleeves to help bring the dream of a first-class city park to reality. 

Today, the park also welcomes visitors to the Bluebird Trail, a mile-long path where hikers can stretch their aerobic capacity while enjoying the lovely scenery.  Huge old pine trees stand proudly as a testament to the history of the timber trade in the area: 20 acres of the park are on what used to be an old logging mill site. 

Deer and wild turkey frequently roam the park, as well as the occasional armadillo and raccoon.
